The Ala D'Oro hotel is located in the centre of the historic Lugo - Ravenna. It was once property of the Counts Rossi, one of the most influential families of the city. The property was built at the beginning of the 18th century, and it was considered one of the most charming structures of the town, situated in front of the Agostinian Monastery.
As you go into the hotel, you can see the memorial tablet dedicated to the birth of the Countess Cornelia Rossi Martinetti, who was born on 20th January 1781, and was considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. She married Giovanni Battista Martinetti from Bologna, and, after that, gave hospitality to some of the greatest world artists, including Giacomo Leopardi, Ugo Foscolo, Antonio Canova, Gioacchino Rossini, Vincenzo Monti and Lord Byron. In particular, Ugo Foscolo mentioned her in his work Le Grazie, and she was considered by Leopardi as the gentlest woman in Italy.
In the late 19th century, a Jewish family bought the building and subdivided it into various residences, until it was eventually turned into a hotel in 1952 by the Nostri family, which has always managed it with great care and renovated it different times, in order to have always a modern and fully equipped property.
Since 1998 the hotel has been taken part to the Dimore d'Epoca, a group formed by independent hotels located in historic structures.
The Function room is the ideal place for your congresses and meetings. Thanks to its moveable walls system, it can be divided into two rooms with different purposes and is fully equipped for your conferences and meetings, accommodating more than 200 people. It is also available for weddings, meetings, celebrations, dinners and special occasions.
The Saletta della Contessa, located on the first floor, is the most enchanting room of the hotel, and the evidence of the glorious past of the early owners. It has a Venetian style floor and a large fireplace, above which is the manor coat of arms. The room can accommodate up to 20 people, depending on the audio-visuals equipment used.
The hotel also provides a TV lounge, where guests can have a moment of relax watching the latest films and live sport events on the giant screen, or surfing the internet.
Located where once there used to be the kitchen of the palace, the bar offers a pleasant ambience with a vaulted ceiling.
The 40 rooms of the hotel are placed in two floors, and each one differs in size from the others, depending on the time they were built. Nevertheless, they are all comfortable and equipped with private bathroom, hairdryer, direct dial telephone, Internet connection, mini bar, air conditioning, TV colour satellite with Sky cinema and Sky sport, pay TV. Most of the rooms overlook the peaceful internal patio.
