The hotel has no street access for arrivals to to the property. Long walks handling your luggage are required. The departure is VERY EASY as you can depart to train station and airport via water taxi for 130 euroes got to the airport but well worth the price.
There is no Resturant at the property which eliminates food service. The breakfast is basic at best. Several of us were wondering what to call the egg offering, it looked like a cross between a very thin flatted pancake/egg thing. This property room rate is comparable to a very high end property in the US or a number of the European countries.

The hotel is in a great location but in desperate need of renovation. Old, fusty carpets - poor bathrooms - no air conditioning during our stay (they turn it on in June) - room was hot and stuffy but could not keep window open as very noisy. I will be looking for another hotel for my next trip.

I would only suggest to those that want a hotel close to the city centre as compared to others, I don't think this deserves to be a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was average as were most things. Budget-friendly so that's another plus.

The staff were most unhelpful. We had called ahead to notify the hotel that our clients were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary... the hotel knew nothing about this! Also, I had requested a late checkout 1400 and offered to pay for this facilty. I was assured it would not be a problem. Once again the hotel had no knowledge of this on the day of departure!!

We had booked the Cavalletto e Doge Orseolo Venice for a special anniversary, and were thrilled to find it so close to the tourist centre, although this feeling was short lived when we saw our room. I could see the disappointment in my partner's face, which I felt as well, but because it was a special occasion she didn't want me to complain or 'make a fuss'.

The room was cramped with no air conditioning. There were no tea and coffee making facilities. The wardrobe doors were ill fitting with catches broken. The toilet seat was loose. The toilet itself had an unsightly brown mark down the porcelain where a persistent leak had stained it. We found it impossible to switch off the bathroom fan, the only way seemed to be to switch off all the room lights. What really appalled me was that the only working socket we could find was INSIDE the bathroom!!

I had paid in full, six weeks in advance, what I consider to be a substantial rate, for what was a very poor room (with no breakfast included). It made our room at the Leeds Bradford Airport Travelodge (£24 per night) seem palatial and well appointed by comparison.

It was a pity that our stay in such a magical city was marred by this poor quality accommodation, which bore no resemblance to room images on the web. I would certainly not recommend the Cavalletto e Doge Orseolo Venice to others, and would think twice about booking with Best Western again.

Cavalletto e Doge was great! Perfect location, great service from everyone on staff. They even helped us catch a taxi to the airport at 5am. Would highly recommend this hotel to others and it will be at the top of my list when I return to Venice. Thank you!

Have stayed in this hotel 3 time before. Staff very friendly and helpful. Had superior room overlooking basin, good size and very clean. Breakfast seems expensive but you can have as much as you like and food is constantly topped up. Excellent location for St Marks Square and local bars and restaurants.

We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this hotel to any person travelling thru venice. Thankyou for a wonderful time, our room was a delight to the eye, it was HUGE.... when we arrived after such a long flight, we were genuinely surprised at how like it was to the pictures on the internet, but so much larger than expected

By far the worst 4 star hotel I have ever stayed in anywhere in the world. Staff were abrupt and disinterested in me, my party and any problems raised. They have no perception of service, courtesy; if they hate their work, find a better job!!! Should be a 2 star at best. Generally old fashioned, scruffy, characterless.
It was my mother's 80th birthday treat.. nobody was interested.
Shower flooded the floor on the first day and continued to flood every day, reported it but nobody did anything about it. Couldn't get into the bath to bathe, too small. Just total rubbish!!!!
Old fashioned approach to running a hotel, great location and they seem to think that allows them have very low standards everywhere else.
Don't care whether or not they improve, i would never go back!!

In general the hotel just looks in need of a refit. It was dull and past it's best. If it wasn't Venice I couldn't recommend it all all but the staff were great and location was excellent.

Very hectic and difficult to access. The water taxi charged 80euro from train station to hotel but then dropped us off at the St. Marks Square and told us to walk the rest of the way. Rooms are very, very noisy. Hard Rock Cafe right across the canal and the canal is a waiting/gathering stop for the gondola drivers. If you are looking for night life and hustle bustle, this hotel is perfect. Rooms on lower floors show mold and are smelly. Employees are very pleasant and helpful. We left and stayed the next night at San Clemente Island - now that was a wonderful, relaxing, luxurious resort!

The hotel had an excellent location and the staff were polite and professional and our room was very clean. We were however, disappointed when checking-in to find that our room was not in the main hotel building. We cannot comment on the restaurant and bar facilities as we found the prices prohibitively expensive! Nevertheless we found the Cavalletto e Doge Orseolo to be a pleasant hotel.
The advertised WiFi service was not available which caused severe disappointment and inconvenience eg. we were unable to check-in online for our return flight. (also, If this had been a business trip, it would have been a disaster!)
We were unable to access the internet on our laptop for the entire week!
The breakfast was essentially a continental choice of not great variety or quality which was frankly poor value for the money charged. The two hot items provided were the same each day and were in our opinion inedible comprising bacon which was almost pure fat and a congealed egg product which we have yet to identify! Some popular items were not replenished frequently enough.
In addition the restaurant area was extremely small for the size of hotel so we often had to wait for a table to be available for breakfast and there was barely room to squeeze between the tables in the eating area.

The major problem with this hotel is that the water taxis would not take us to the hotel dock as they said it was too shallow.This meant disembarking at Todaros Pier near St Mark,s square and carrying our bags about 250 yards over bridges to the hotel.

This was the only location we stayed that the front desk was unhelpful and seemed to be irritated by simple questions. After just leaving a family owned hotel in the center of Florence maybe if an unfair comparison. They were so helpful and courteous. Comparing your staff to that of the Marriott Rome Park there was no comparison. The Marriott staff was so helpful and always willing to answer any question. Your staff response was a cold head nod, which often didn't answer anything. I felt as though I was always bothering them, so I stayed away.

The breakfast room was too small and you had to straggle in order to reach the buffet. However, the view of the canal was rewarding. Our room was not at the main building but to a building opposite. However it was a triple room big with view to a narrow canal. I suggest that the reception people should be more informative about the services of the hotel when you check in. We haven't been told anything about the trip to Murano not being provided with a map as the site says. We had to ask about.

Overall excellent experience. One front desk person in particular was especially friendly and helpful. The man who runs the bar was particularly rude and not at all welcoming. The location is excellent. Great fun looking down at the gondolas in the canal. Too bad they don't have anywhere to sit outside. I recommend this hotel but if you don't want to feel you're in a Best Western you need to specify a room in the original building. Good water pressure. Comfortable beds. Air conditioning is minimal.

I would recommend this hotel regarding its location in Venice, 1 minute walk from St Marks Square. However, I would have to say that never before have I stayed in such a small, drab bedroom. Even the view over a lagoon/gondolas could not make the stay in such a room pleasurable.

The welcome was not so good as the reception at arrival said that they didn t have a reservation for us this even without checking, the tone was not proffessional as well.
The private boat landing is not working when you arrive with a taxi boat.
No internet in the hotel this is not what i was expectiong , Wifi is now a standard !!!
