Im Jahre 2000 wurde Reykjavìk der Titel ""Europäische Kulturstadt"" angesichts seines lebhaften kulturellen Lebens, seiner vielen Festivals und der bemerkenswerten Auswahl an künstlerischen Events verliehen. Zugleich ist die Hauptstadt aufgrund ihres berühmten Nachtlebens als aufregender Ort bekannt. Das Hotel wird in der Zeit vom 03.06. bis zum 23.08. als Sommerhotel geführt, in der Wintersaison als studentische Unterkunft. Es wurde im Jahr 1999 in modernem Stil erbaut und bietet einfache, funktionale und geräumige Unterkunft in 42 hellen, sauberen Studio-Apartments, sowie Aufzüge, Frühstücksraum und Parkmöglichkeiten.
Alle Studio-Apartments besitzen Balkon und TV.
Eine der lachsreichsten Flüsse des Landes, der Elliðaár, fließt direkt durch Reykjavík und ist dennoch sauber und klar, was Anglern die seltene Möglichkeit bietet, neben einer vielbefahrenen Straße zu fischen. Zu weiteren Erholungsangeboten zählt Mitternachts-Golf, Reiten und Wal-Beobachtungen.
